The Way I Go

The way I go is the only one I know,

It’s the only one I know,

Here I go,

Every hour is the next wave on the shore,

Seeing new things seeing more

Here I go, again,

Checking it out

The sea glass and the shells,

The driftwood has its well worn tales of glory

I am on my way, I’m coming along

On my way I’m coming along.

The story only knows the story as it goes,

So I’ll be on my, I’ll be on my way now.

Folks will come with their protocols and proof

With their formulas the truth,

Hey we’re getting by,

I have paid just to walk their trail of clues,

While my shadow buys the booze,

Hey we’re getting by

We pack it all up,

We turn the great design,

Into the thinnest of lines,

And then we plant a sign of right or wrongness

I am on my way, I’m coming along

On my way I’m coming along.

The story only knows the story as it goes,

So I’ll be on my, I’ll be on my way now.

I marched along their path

I stopped and did the math

And now I laugh at all those answers, now I only ask

What do I see,

What do I really see,

How did it go,

How did it really go,

How does it feel, yeah really feel,

It’s something only I can know myself,

Over and over I tell myself

That’s what I remind myself.

The way I go every day is fast or slow

Call it high art, could be low,

And it’s what I know

Tide comes in and my footprints disappear,

But I was there and I am here,

And it’s what I know,

I’m taking the time

These miles of sandy shore

Are gonna teach me more,

I know what it was for and for myself I’d say some good things happened, and

It might not be enough for anyone

Might not matter much to anyone,

But it means something to me.

It’s just the way it goes,

I’m on my way, I’m coming along,

I’m on my way, hey she’s coming along!

So many things we say,

Are beautiful in their own way,

So I’ll be on my, I’ll be on my way now.
